This week, over 300 Top Executives from the Danish travel industry were gathered in Cirkusbygningen in Copenhagen, when Copenhagen Marriott took home the award as Denmark's best hotel in the Greater Copenhagen Area at the Danish Travel Award 2017. The Award Show took place on October 4th and was organized by the Danish travel trade media StandBy for the 23rd consecutive year. This year, however, the show's Executive Committee decided to implement a new voting system to expand the voting with a 2,000 member strong "Denmark Panel" handled by the Epinion Research Institute, and to avoid travel industry employees voting for their own venues. With the new system in place, the deciding factor became a high ranking of quality among the nominees, the organizer stressed.

'Best Hotel in Copenhagen and Surroundings' was the Copenhagen Marriott - ahead of the 4-star hotel Copenhagen Admiral and the 5-starred Hotel d'Angleterre. A delighted Anders Duelund, Group Hotel General Manager of the Copenhagen Marriott and other hotel venues within BC Hospitality Group, says of the acknowledgement:

"We are very pleased with the recognition, not least because it confirms that commitment, perseverance and focus on excellent service creates happy and loyal guests from near and far. I would particularly like to thank Copenhagen Marriott's Operational Director and Daily Manager, Ms. Anna Käll, who together with her team of highly motivated employees, once again have created excellent results. The Danish Travel Award emphasizes yet again, that the Copenhagen Marriott is at the forefront of product and service, and its employees can rightly be proud of the Award, which is largely their achievement. "

5-star award winner invests millions in makeover

BC Hospitality Group owns and operates the popular 5-star hotel on Copenhagen's scenic waterfront, under a franchise agreement with Marriott. Since its acquisition in 2015, the Group has invested more than 18 million DKK. in the hotel and launched a brand new Executive Lounge, 5 newly renovated rooms, an updated gym, and implemented Marriott's global 'Meetings Imagined' concept.

Another 4.5 million. DKK. is currently being spent on converting the hotel's legendary Royal Suite, which has housed countless prominent Heads of State, rock stars, etc. from home and abroad. This conversion will result in a brand new 160m2 Royal Suite including a large-sized bedroom with stunning sea views (and the possibility of connecting another bedroom) as well as a spa-like bathroom, cloakroom, and an open kitchen seating up to 14 persons. The decor will be simple with selected designer furniture, exclusive Bang & Olufsen electronics, and excellent surround sound. The Royal Suite is scheduled to be ready by late November 2017, but more exciting changes are underway at the hotel with a makeover of the hotel's popular dining areas due in 2018.

Earlier this year, Copenhagen Marriott also received the coveted 'Hotel of The Year' Award by its Marriott and Starwood peers when gathered for their annual European Conference in London.
