When the annual congress of the European Association of Urology takes place in Copenhagen on 16-20th March 2018, a prominent congress within the research and treatment field of urinary systems hits town. Hence, hosting the 33rd annual EAU congress will not only underline the region's strong R&D position, but also Copenhagen and Bella Center Copenhagen's position as top convention partners for conducting knowledge-based congresses of truly international calibre.

Bella Center Copenhagen, Wonderful Copenhagen CVB, and the Danish Urological Society, who teamed up to attract the congress to Copenhagen, equally warmly welcome the EAU18 to the destination.

Allan L. Agerholm, CEO of BC Hospitality Group, including Bella Center Copenhagen, said:

- Staging the EAU18 in Copenhagen is great proof of our ability to attract high profile international congresses to the city. We are delighted to be part of highlighting yet another of the region's key positions of strength, and we look forward to welcoming EAU-delegates from across the world to the Bella Center Copenhagen.

Like-minded, Mr. Mikkel Aarø-Hansen, CEO of Wonderful Copenhagen CVB, added:

- After a long-term, shared effort, we are excited to welcome the EAU congress to Copenhagen, and we are particularly pleased with the level of recognition it gives to the Greater Copenhagen Region. A congress of this calibre not only has a huge socio-economic impact on our region, it also reinforces Copenhagen's strong position as one of the most popular congress cities worldwide.

Regional position of strength

The potential strengthening of the region's research area, not least subsequent to the EUA Congress, led the Chairman of the Danish Urological Society, Chief Physician and Professor Jens Sønksen, to state the following:

- Copenhagen's reputation as an outstanding congress city was of vital importance to the EAU's decision on where to place the international congress in 2018. At the same time, the EAU 2018 will have a huge impact on the future works of the Danish Urological Society, the Scandinavian Association of Urology, the so-called ReproUnion project, and the strong cross-national collaborations taking place.

In addition to the EAU18 taking place in Copenhagen/Denmark, the sister-city of Malmø in nearby Sweden also plays host to another large congress within the same filed of research: the European Section of Andrological Urology - ESAU held in 2017.
